Scottish Premiership sides Kilmarnock and St Mirren sent scouts to watch Newcastle United starlet Elias Sorensen against Leeds United’s U-23’s on Friday night, according to the Chronicle.

The newspaper claims that both teams were represented in the stands as the 19-year-old converted his 17th goal of the season in the victory over the Whites.

The Magpies are yet to decide whether they want to loan the teenager out in January or not, but they certainly won’t be short of suitors for the attacker.

The Chroncile’s report states that both Gateshead and Hartlepool are also interested in moving for Sorensen, with the latter represented by head scout Tommy Miller on Friday.

Good move for Newcastle?

The race for Sorensen is certainly heating up, isn’t it? That’s no surprise considering the teenager’s stunning form this campaign. He has been a goal machine at youth level and has done well against professional teams in the Checkatrade Trophy as well. It seems clear that a loan move away from St James’ Park would be a nice next step for him, so the question is what team should he join? A move to Kilmarnock or St Mirren would appear to be too much too soon for the youngster. He shouldn’t be playing top flight football at this stage of his career, so a switch to a non league side like Hartlepool or Gateshead might work better.

Likely to happen?

Well Newcastle are clearly unsure about what to do with Sorensen so it’s hard to say where he’ll be at the end of January. A move to Scotland seems slightly far-fetched, to be honest, so this one likely won’t happen.
