Newcastle fans might not be optimistic about the January transfer window but they’ve got a huge chance of signing MLS star attacker Miguel Almiron.
The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon revealed that Almiron doesn’t have any other club in for him, despite earlier reports linking him with both Arsenal and Tottenham.
According to Nixon, it’s either Newcastle or staying in the MLS and given that choice, the attacker who’s been involved in 25 goals in 32 league games this season could well bring his demands down.
Newcastle, have focused on meeting the demands of Almiron first, but he’s holding out for a lot of money – as Nixon said, “nothing about this deal is cheap”.
Almiron would be a risk – the Premier League is a completely different proposition to the MLS but the Paraguay international has the talent to transform Newcastle’s season.
Ashley could be willing to play a game of brinksmanship with Almiron that could take the deal all the way to the wire but he’s a player that is worth taking a gamble on.
Goals have been hard to come by for Newcastle and Almiron can score them and make them.
With the hopes of a buyout receding, Newcastle fans will be looking for one marquee signing in January and we believe Almiron is the one. The only thing stopping a deal happening is the cash and Newcastle simply must find the middle ground and bring the 24-year-old to St James’ Park.
