West Ham are nailed-on to hand trialist Samir Nasri a short-term deal after Jack Wilshere suffered a setback in his injury recovery, according to club insiders Claret and Hugh

The Hammers news website, which has extensive links inside the London Stadium, report that a return for Wilshere is ‘very much on hold’ after this latest blow.

Claret and Hugh claim that Nasri is now odds-on to be offered a short-term deal by the Irons imminently, with the Premier League winner having made good progress in training since being taken on by the club.

It is said that the Hammers would also hold an option to take Nasri on for a further year should they see fit, with Manuel Pellegrini known to be a huge fan of the 5’9″ France international [Transfermarkt].

Good move for West Ham?

Yes, especially after Wilshere’s setback.

There were questions raised about the potential signing of Nasri when the news first emerged that the Hammers were looking at him, but this development means it is a no-brainer.

Importantly, the Hammers have reportedly been impressed by Nasri in training, with the 31-year-old working hard and proving his worth behind the scenes.

To offer him a short-term deal until the end of the season makes sense, with the Irons crying out for some creativity through the middle.

Likely to happen?

It had looked likely that West Ham would offer Nasri a deal anyway, so Wilshere’s injury simply adds to that.

Claret and Hugh are usually very reliable with their information, and it looks likely that this one will go through at some point in the coming weeks, likely as soon as Nasri is available to play on the 1st of January.
