OPINION
While the first-team toil under Jose Mourinho, the Manchester United youth set-up looks to be thriving. The club’s under-18 side just knocked holders Chelsea out of the FA Youth Cup on Monday night, with Mason Greenwood netting a hat-trick in a 4-3 thriller. The 17-year-old striker has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 20 goals in 19 starts in all competitions for the Red Devils [MEN]. His performance against Chelsea illustrated his strengths perfectly as Greenwood terrorised the Chelsea defence with his pace before showing off his finishing ability with three well taken goals. His form has unsurprisingly attracted the attention of many United fans on Twitter, some of whom are calling for the 17-year-old to be included in the first-team squad over the Christmas schedule. The plight of Mourinho’s senior side likely has something to do with these calls, but there is no doubt that Greenwood is a huge prospect, with that first-team promotion surely coming at some point soon.

Mason Greenwood playing great football with the youth side while Lukaku is still trying to find his first touch. I think we should try the lad in the first team but with the current "mood' in that first team it could derail his progress. #MUFC https://t.co/a4MxFyl0Vo
