Everton were thought to be pursuing the promising talents of winger Marcus Tavernier ahead of him committing himself to Middlesbrough in 2017 and must try to get him again especially with Manchester United lurking.

According to the Daily Mail, Man United are showing a surprise interest in the left-footed dazzler as they want to bolster their U-23 options and they’ve even had scouts watch him in recent weeks.

Tavernier is a very promising talent and is capable of being a bright spark for a side in the near future as he has the potential to be a very tricky winger as he has slick dribbling skills and pace to burn.

The 19-year-old may not be the most consistent performer as of yet but his raw potential means he’s a player that the Toffees would benefit from having on their books.

Tavernier currently finds himself at Boro and while not a regular name on the teamsheet, he has managed to score two goals in seven league outings in the Championship this season, which is impressive when you consider how physically demanding that league is.

Man United would have some talent on their hand if they successfully recruited him and you feel the Toffees will be gutted if they miss out on the talented winger once again.

Football Insider reported in December 2017 that Tavernier snubbed the interest of the Toffees and Arsenal as they had expressed their desire for him, in order to pen a new deal with Middlesbrough instead.

Yet given that Man United potentially believe they have a chance to lure him to a Premier League side, shown by the fact they’ve even sent scouts out, the Toffees can’t afford to miss out again.

Tavernier is definitely a player who could be the real deal in the near future, shown by the fact he trained with England’s senior squad in September and he could be an asset to the Toffees.

Therefore given that he could end up at the Premier League giants, Man United, in the near future if they make their interest concrete then the Toffees must get involved in the race for him and beat Jose Mourinho’s side to the punch.
