Liverpool are in danger of losing rising star Liam Millar and he could even sign a pre-contract agreement with a new club next month, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claim the four-times Canada international, 19, is out of contract with the Merseysiders at the end of the season and they are in danger of losing the 2016 signing on a free transfer.

The Mail report Millar is attracting interest from sides in the United States, Scotland, Holland and Belgium as well as a number of Championship outfits.

Good move for Liverpool?

No. It’s never good for elite clubs to lose their top young players for nothing. Millar certainly fits into that category after scoring prolifically for the club at youth-team level, including 14 goals in 36 Under-18s appearances for the club. He scored two goals for the Reds in Saturday’s Premier League 2 win over Arsenal, following up his brace against Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Youth League last week. Moreover, Millar is loved in his homeland. The wonderkid has recently been nominated for Canada’s player and young player of the year in recent weeks. He is a rising star with the pedigree and promise to become an established one.

Likely to happen?

There is a very good chance Millar could leave Anfield in the January window, especially if talks over a new contract have reached an impasse or totally broken down. The player is in a strong negotiating position to get a lucrative deal elsewhere, as he can be signed on a free without a compensation fee to Liverpool for training costs.
