Holgate set to leave Everton on loan

|

Everton have informed young defender Mason Holgate he may leave the club on loan in the January transfer window, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper report that the Toffees are willing to let the 22-year-old make a temporary switch until the end of the season after he fell down the pecking order under Marco Silva.

The Mirror claim that director of football Marcel Brands is currently working on a destination for Holgate, with the club having already been swamped with significant interest in the talented youngster.

Good move for Everton?

Absolutely.

Holgate is a really highly-rated talent who has merely found himself behind some players of serious quality at Goodison Park this season.

The 22-year-old defender has not played for the club since September and there is little point in keeping him around for another six months to rot in the reserves.

There is obviously huge interest in the starlet, with both Premier League and Championship clubs linked, so the Toffees will have no problem in finding a suitable destination.

Likely to happen?

There is no reason why not.

Everton are happy to let Holgate out on loan, and the player will obviously be keen to secure more regular first-team football as he continues his development.

With there already being a large amount of interest, this one should most definitely happen when January rolls around, barring an injury crisis at Goodison Park.
