Everton are currently ranked sixth in the Premier League at the moment, so you would assume that things are going pretty well for Marco Silva.

However, there is one niggling problem that is refusing to go away, and that is the form of striker Cenk Tosun.

The 27-year-old has certainly not been the highlight of the Toffees season so far – and Silva even deployed Richarlison up front recently to spare him the bother of letting Tosun fail miserably.

Yes, he has popped up with the odd goal here and there but that is hardly enough to warrant a regular starting place is it? Fans are no doubt wondering right now why he was ever signed in the first place.

He was only signed in January this year, but since then he has made little-to-no positive impact on the team and this is rather concerning.

This is why he must be on the chopping block come the January transfer window, as it would allow Everton to get rid of a forward who is essentially a waste of space and use the funds to sign a player who is a lot more reliable.

He has played 12 matches this season, but most of those appearances have come from the bench – appearances that have amounted to nearly nothing.

The 6ft [Transfermarkt] player’s fall from grace has been clear to see recently, and if his display against Newcastle on Wednesday did not reinforce that message, then nothing will.

Unfortunately for him it just seems that he is not suited to the style of the Premier League and it by the looks of it, he never will be – for a top team anyway.

It may be harsh to say that he must be offloaded in the New Year, but fans need to think of the funds that would come in for him that would allow the club to do better things.

Silva cannot continue to play Richarlison up front for the rest of the season – after all, it is known that he is far more effective at influencing games on the wing – so another striker is an absolute priority.

The manager must be ruthless by sending one of the most underwhelming players in the squad packing as soon as possible – as enough is enough.
