Liverpool’s top brass are convinced they have wrapped up a new contract for Andy Robertson, according to Football Insider.

The site claim the club, led by contract negotiator Michael Edwards, have reached an agreement with the left-back for a new deal worth £60,000-a-week.

Football Insider report the contract will run for four-and-a-half years until the summer of 2023 and is seen as a reward for the huge progress he has made since signing from Hull City in the summer of 2017.

OPINION

Robertson’s stock is at an all-time high after he was left drowning in praise from the unlikely source of Jose Mourinho after his Action Man performance in last weekend’s win over Manchester United. The Portugese might have been highlighting the contribution of the Scot as an example of how his own players lacked the same total commitment to the cause, but it further demonstrated how the former Hull man is now the best player in his position in the Premier League. Ashley Young was England’s left-back at the World Cup, Luke Shaw has been much improved this season and the likes of Ben Chilwell, Danny Rose and Marcos Alonso all have their supporters. But none have Robertson’s combination of defensive solidity, boundless energy and ability to overlap and consistently create goalscoring opportunities. Released by Celtic in his teens, Robertson has bounced back and deserves all the praise, and this new contract, heading his way.
