Reports linking Celtic to a January swoop for Brighton striker Aaron Connolly are wide of the mark, according to Brighton Argus reporter Andy Naylor.
Naylor, who reports on Albion for the local newspaper, claimed on his personal Twitter account on Friday that there was no truth in the speculation linking Connolly to an exit in January.
You may have seen the speculation. Linked with others as well.
Reliably informed no truth. #bhafchttps://t.co/Y5dC53Lx1r— Andy Naylor (@AndyNaylorBHAFC) December 28, 2018
The Scottish Sun had reported earlier that the Hoops were considering a swoop for the 18-year-old Republic of Ireland youth international, who has scored 17 goals for the development side this season.
Good move for Celtic?
Absolutely.
Connolly is a real talent who has taken Premier League 2 by storm this season, netting 17 goals for the Seagulls so far.
Obviously there is a big difference between Under-23 football and Premiership standard, but the 18-year-old is certainly one for the future.
Celtic would do really well to snap him up at this stage of his development, with Connolly ready to break into first-team football in the coming months.

Likely to happen?
Unfortunately, after Naylor’s update, it looks unlikely.
Connolly is reported to be in talks with Brighton over a new deal, and with him so highly-rated on the south coast, an exit to Celtic or anywhere else is looking off the cards in January.
