Premier League side Bournemouth are mulling over a swoop for key Celtic star Callum McGregor, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

Nixon, football correspondent at The Sun, claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that the Cherries had been making checks on the Scotland international in recent weeks.

It is said that Bournemouth have now stepped up their interest in the 25-year-old amid a midfield injury crisis.

Good move for Celtic?

No, absolutely not.

McGregor has become such a key player for Brendan Rodgers in recent seasons and losing him to a Premier League side in January would be a massive blow.

The 25-year-old is key to Celtic’s hopes domestically and in Europe, should they make the knockout stages, and they must do all they can to keep hold of him.

Likely to happen?

Luckily for Celtic fans, you would think not.

Rodgers will be well aware of McGregor’s importance to him and his side, and will be ready to rebuff all attempts to sign him in the mid-season window.

It would take a seriously big offer for the Hoops to even think about selling on McGregor, and the likelihood of Bournemouth stumping up that kind of money is low.
