OPINION

When Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signed for Arsenal it looked as if they had finally found the answer to their inconsistent striking problems. Prolific in the Bundesliga, the striker was a marked improvement on the players the Gunners had available. He is still arguably their most dangerous goal threat, and has found the net with decent proficiency since moving to London, but he has also developed a worrying habit of wasting clearcut chances. In the first half against Huddersfield the Gabonese international, alongside teammate Alexandre Lacazette missed a golden opportunity to open the scoring, and some Gunners took to Twitter to vent their frustrations. Arsenal are on a wonderful unbeaten run under Unai Emery, but are still some way off the pace in the title race, and on more than one occasion have dropped points in needless draws. All the signs are that under Emery the Gunners could become title contenders again, but if that is to happen they need to be able to rely upon Aubameyang to bury the easy chances in a way that he isn’t right now.
