Serie B club Palermo have contacted Leeds United about trying to sign in-form striker Kemar Roofe at some point in 2019, according to Blog Sicilia.

The respected Sicilian news outlet claims that the Whites want up to £5.4million for the 25-year-old, even though he has scored 10 goals in 16 appearances across all competitions this season.

The report says that it remains to be seen whether Palermo are trying to sign Roofe in the January transfer window or next summer, however by that time they are likely to be back in Serie A as they currently sit top of Italy’s second-tier.

Good move for Leeds?

If Palermo are willing to pay over £15million then Leeds should consider it, but anything less then the Italians can forget about it.

Roofe has been vital for the Whites this season and it really showed on Saturday when he scored both goals in the 2-1 win against QPR.

Selling him in January could derail the club’s promotion bid while selling him next summer would also be a mistake if it is as low as Blog Silicila claim Leeds want for him.

Likely to happen?

It seems so random that it just might be true.

However Palermo can contact Leeds all they want about signing Roofe, there will be little they can do to make the Yorkshire giants accept a bid or convince the ex-West Brom attacker that moving to Serie B is the right direction for his career.

Palermo are better off looking elsewhere because there is no way this will happen.
