OPINION
West Brom are plotting a move for Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips according to the Sun’s transfer expert, but fans are not having any of it.
Alan Nixon, made the claim on his personal Twitter page on Sunday morning but admitted that there is no way that a move would happen between the promotion rivals in January.
He said it could be a summer move if West Brom get promoted and Leeds don’t.
I
It’s not surprising to see Phillips’ name linked with a move, although West Brom wouldn’t be the first name we’d think of.
They’re obviously admirers but it’s obvious Leeds wouldn’t entertain a move that would derail their promotion hopes at the expense of a rival. The fans would never forgive them.
And, as one fan said, his next move should be “upwards not sideways” although if the narrative Nixon describes happens then it would be a move up to the Premier League.
That’s where we expect the interest to come from if Phillips carries on playing the way he has this season.
Here are the best reactions from Leeds fans to the report:
Bless them. Sounds like a move to unsettle a player. Imagine being unsettled by WBA.

The way he’s progressed this season if we don’t go up he’ll have better options than WBA!

12 months ago a good portion of the fan base would have given him a lift to the hawthorns and now he is borderline indispensable

He wouldnt go to west brom of that i can almost guarentee. To shift him from the club he loves 2 things would need to happen. 1) Leeds want to sell (which they dont) 2) a top end prem club comes knocking. Dont make stories up pal

Clubs will be sniffing around, players like Pontus, Pablo, Kalvin, Kemar and Jack are bound to be the subject of transfer speculation. If we are serious about promotion we need to hang onto the players that can help take us over the line.

They can have him if they give us £50m plus Matt Phillips.

It is doubtful that Phillips would go there but when other clubs look back over the years – our club regularly has sold its young talent , often far too cheaply….. why wouldn't they check? I really hope our current owners stand firm and stop the trend soon ????
