Leeds United fans were hit with some unexpected news on Tuesday, that Man City are plotting a January move for whizkid Jack Clarke.

Leeds fans know how good he is. They’ve been calling for manager Marcelo Bielsa to start Clarke after a string of impressive cameo performances and he’s obliged to an extent, giving Clarke 45 minutes in the past two league games.

He set up the only goal of the game for Pablo Hernandez in the 1-0 win against Sheffield United at the weekend and Man City scouts reportedly gave Pep Guardiola a glowing report that’s convinced City’s manager to make a move in January.

However, Leeds fans are torn between warning Pep off, telling him to give them a lot of money and a player in return, and claiming that it will never happen.

Whether the Pep interest is real or not, Clarke will be attracting interest from the Premier League but a couple of things work in Leeds’ favour at the moment.

He’s on a contract with Leeds until 2021 so he would cost any team that wanted him a lot of money.

Also, he’s currently working under Marcelo Bielsa and unless he’s getting really bad advice he must know this is the best place for him, at least in the short-term. He may well be a Premier League player with Leeds next season.

The best thing Leeds can do is to sign him up on an improved and extended contract and see what happens in January.

In the meantime, this is what the Leeds fans think of it all:
