Pontus Jansson responded to a frustrated tweet from QPR centre-back Toni Leistner on Sunday night.

For once it wasn’t the Leeds players up in arms about the officiating but QPR after Leeds were awarded their first penalty in 58 games.

And Leistner should be up for an FA charge if there’s any consistency after he tweeted, “Hard to play against a tough team and the *** referee.”

Jansson knows that all too well after getting a one-game suspension for accusing a referee of robbery and he took to Twitter to respond to his QPR counterpart.

Jansson joked, “You might be in prison if you use those words as a Leeds player… All the best big man, stay strong.”

OPINION

We’re not entirely sure that this was the wisest move by Jansson but his tweet is pretty funny. It will be interesting to see what the FA do. The Leistner tweet might not be quite as public as Jansson’s post-match interview on Sky but it’s out there for everyone to see and we can’t see the FA letting it slide. Leeds deserved a break and finally got one on Saturday, with their first penalty after an incredible drought that had gone on for 14 months, 418 days and 5,273 minutes of football. The penalty brought Leeds another win – four in a row now – and maintains their charge at the top of the table. They needed it too with Norwich winning and the two are now breaking clear at the top of the Championship. There’s five points now between Leeds and Sheffield United and Derby, but they need to maintain this form and keep the charge up.
