There is no doubting that Rangers supporters are some of the most fervent out there but as proven last season when the going gets tough the Ibrox faithful can often find themselves divided.

The 2017/18 campaign was not an easy one for Gers fans to endure as they saw their side capitulate both on and off the pitch, ending the season third in the table after three managers in charge and two senior stars suspended in the shape of Lee Wallace and Kenny Miller.

Thankfully for the Light Blues – and Scottish football as a whole – the Bears are bouncing once again thanks to Steven Gerrard’s revolution in Glasgow, taking the club on a title hunt as well as battling it out on the European stage in the Europa League.

It has really brought the fan base back together once again and they must remain united for as long as they can as Villarreal star Manu Morlanes makes a stunning claim about the support at Ibrox, who deafened the Spaniards on Thursday night.

He was quoted by the Daily Record as saying: “The truth is the noise in the stadium was deafening for our players. It’s the noisiest I have ever heard a football ground.

“It’s an experience I will take with me forever. It was great to play on a stage like Ibrox. I hope our fans support us like the Rangers fans did on Thursday.”

While he might only be a 19-year-old Morlanes will have experience of some of the top stadiums in La Liga – and so to compare Ibrox to the big boys of European football really is stunning and shows the impact that the supporters can have on visiting sides.

Rangers fans need to make sure that no matter what they continue to back their side the good times and the bad in order to try and seal some glory at Ibrox.

The old adage goes that fans are a 12th man – at Rangers, they can be much more as they hurt the opposition.
