Everton must attempt an audacious swoop to sign Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi in the January transfer window after it was reported that the Italy international will be available for transfer next month.

Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato has reported that Serie A club Sassuolo want £31.5million for the 24-year-old attacker, who could be on the move in January if someone was to meet their asking price.

Berardi is someone who has been on Everton’s radar in the past as a report by Il Messaggero in June 2017 claimed that the Italian was wanted by the Merseysiders as they aimed to add to their attacking force.

Marco Silva’s attack is one that can certainly be upgraded in January, especially on the right-hand side where Theo Walcott and Ademola Lookman have failed to impress that much in their performances this season.

Berardi is a regular on the right-wing for Sassuolo but the five-times Italy international is also equally adept at playing as the centre-forward, which is also an area that Everton could do with adding to.

Silva has played Richarlison as the striker in most of the Blues’ games this season with Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse struggling to make an impact at Goodison Park.

Berardi is a proven goalscorer and one that could make a serious improvement for Everton.

Even though he plays for one of Serie A’s lesser sides, the attacker has scored 50 goals in 157 top-flight appearances for Sassuolo, as well as contributing 38 assists.

At 24-years-of-age that record is mightily impressive, and for £31.5million, the prospect of signing him will surely be mouthwatering for Everton supporters.

Silva and director of football Marcel Brands would be crazy to pass up on this reported opportunity in the January transfer window.

Signing Berardi could actually be the difference between a mid-table finish and breaking into the top-six.
