The impeding closure of Eleven Sports’ streaming service in the UK will not have any impact on the current day-to-day running at Leeds United, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Telegraph reported on Wednesday that Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani is seeking financial assistance over his broadcasting firm’s failure to take off in the UK, and that would lead to “ramifications” for the Yorkshire giants.

However it is now understood that there will be no immediate effect on what is currently happening at Elland Road as Marcelo Bielsa aims to take the Whites back to the Premier League.

OPINION

It is certainly a blow for Radrizzani to see Eleven Sports flop in the UK, but at least there are no instant ramifications for Leeds and their bid for promotion this season. It is something that will certainly worry Radrizzani though and hit him in the pocket. Eleven Sports won the rights to broadcast La Liga and Serie A football in the UK from BT Sports and Sky Sports earlier this year, but now it looks like they will now be able to go ahead with those plans with the impending closure of the UK arm of the company. It might not have an instant impact on life at Elland Road, but it could be something that will be brought up in the future if Radrizzani doesn’t back Bielsa with as much cash as everyone thought he would. A lot of that will surely depend on promotion to the Premier League, and at the moment, it certainly looks like the Whites are on their way back to the big-time.
