West Bromwich Albion are eyeing up a daring swoop for Leeds midfield enforcer Kalvin Phillips, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

Nixon, football correspondent at The Sun, reported on his personal Twitter account that the Baggies were interested in the 23-year-old ahead of the January window.

It is said however that a January switch is off the cards even for an astronomical fee, meaning West Brom may have to wait until the summer to see if either team achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Good move for West Brom?

Absolutely.

Phillips has been one of the standout performers for the Whites this season as they have made their way up to second in the table under Marcelo Bielsa, with the midfielder currently in the form of his life.

The 23-year-old enforcer has really taken to the Argentine’s methods, immediately slotting into his system with ease to make that holding midfield spot his own at Elland Road.

Signing Phillips from a rival would be a masterstroke from the Baggies, whether it is in January or the summer.

Likely to happen?

Unfortunately not.

As Nixon states, there is no chance of Leeds letting Phillips leave in January, for any amount of money.

And, when it gets to the summer, the only scenario which would make this one possible is if the Baggies were promoted and Leeds were not, which looks unlikely at this moment in time.
