Leeds United are weighing up an offer for Hull City attacker Jarrod Bowen but aren’t prepared to meet their rival’s price “at the moment”, according t0 the Times.

The report claims that while Bowen wouldn’t come cheap, he would fill the hole left by Samu Saiz and help Leeds back into the Premier League for the first time in 15 years.

Hull City want “more than £10million” for Bowen and the Times state that this is more than Leeds are willing to pay for him at the moment.

Hull manager Nigel Adkins appeared resigned to bids flying in for the 10-goal attacker in January saying, “I’m sure there will be bids, but as far as I’m aware there’s not been an approach at this stage. He’s an exciting striker with flair so who knows what will happen?”

OPINION

If Bowen wanted to send Leeds a CV then he couldn’t have done any better than scoring both of the goals that sunk them on Saturday. £10million is a lot of money and it might be that Hull will hold out for even more after his brace at Elland Road. But if Leeds are plotting one big marquee signing in January, this is it. They really need to replace Samu Saiz and Bowen would fill that hole brilliantly. There’s no guarantee that Izzy Brown will be able to play much of a part in the second-half of the season after his injury setback and Bowen can play as a winger or a secondary striker. It was interesting to hear Adkins call him an “exciting striker” when he’s played him for the most part on the wing. He also sounds like he might be resigned to the player leaving, certainly if the right offer comes in. Hull have a shot at the play-offs and wouldn’t want to strengthen a rival but they might see Leeds as shoe-ins for an automatic spot and thus not direct competition.
