Leeds United have been rather successful under Marcelo Bielsa so far, and fans are no doubt already dreaming of what life will be like in the Premier League.

While it is important for them not to get too ahead of themselves in terms of the promotion bid, having one eye on the January transfer window is just as important, too too.

Supporters can almost smell the seductive odour of the top-flight and that could be made even more potent with a raid for Benfica midfielder Adel Taarabt.

Having previously played for the likes of Tottenham and Queen’s Park Rangers, the 29-year-old has failed to make one single appearance of the Portuguese outfit this season – a situation that must be exploited by Bielsa.

While many would view a move for him as an unnecessary risk, signing him would actually make a vast difference to how the Whites perform in the final third.

Kemar Roofe is in electric form and the addition of Taarabt playing just off him would really be a lethal combination – a combination that could propel them to the dizzying heights of the Championship.

He can provide that creative spark that could prove to be the difference between automatic promotion or taking the play-off route – a scenario that needs to be avoided altogether.

Leeds have arguably lacked that spark in recent weeks but Taarabt could be the player to transform that in the New Year.

The midfield ace will no doubt be looking to get regular first team chances elsewhere, and having had previous experience in the Championship, a move to Leeds would be perfect.

It would give him the opportunity to recapture the form witnessed during his time in England -basically, Bielsa would be crazy not to sign the frozen-out player.
