Some Aston Villa fans raved over a report that claimed they were pursuing Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers ahead of the January transfer window opening. Football Insider reported on Tuesday that Dean Smith was eyeing a reunion with the 27-year-old central midfielder as he wants to add some energy and creativity to his current midfield options. This news was greeted by a section Villans fans who shared that they rated the 27-year-old with one even claiming the idea excited him. A couple of supporters who questioned whether Aston Villa needed a player like Sawyers were quickly shot down by other fans who disagreed with the idea that a swoop for the Bees midfielder wasn’t smart one. One supporter stated that if Smith says the club need him then that is case while another pointed out that the 27-year-old’s passing was impressive and that he had drastically improved compared to when he used to feature for Walsall, which is definitely the case. Also one Villans supporter highlighted the player’s impeccable work rate and hard-working footballers should always be welcomed at Villa Park.
