Samu Saiz has sent a Twitter message thanking his teammates and the staff and fans at Elland Road after leaving to join Getafe on loan.

In a whirlwind week, Saiz went from Leeds player to a Getafe one in the space of a few days, with the deal coming completely out of the blue.

In his tweet, Saiz said he was “excited” to be heading back to Spain, but he also name checked Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa for “being understanding”.

His parting words were that he hopes Leeds get back to where they belong.

Finally. Leeds fans were hoping for something like this before he was paraded in a Getafe shirt on their website, but better late than never. The message echoes what his partner put up on Instagram and it brings Saiz’s time at Leeds to an end. There will always be some fans who think that they never quite got the most from the mercurial attacker, but he delivered plenty of creativity, attacking and promise and it’s a shame it all ended so quickly. We would have liked to have seen Saiz in the Premier League under Bielsa, but we’ll have to get our fix from La Liga updates now as Saiz looks to help Getafe close the gap on the Spanish giants. They’re currently seventh in the league and only five points behind Real Madrid in the league. With a baby on the way and due before the end of the year, it’s set to bean exciting few weeks for the former Leeds player and we wish him all the best in his future career.
