Leeds United are likely going to look at signing a new midfield option in the January transfer window after the surprise turn of events which saw Samu Saiz depart Elland Road on loan, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The reporter claims on his personal Twitter account that after the Spaniard made his surprise exit on loan from the Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa is looking to fill the void with another signing in the winter window and as such suggests a new signing is on the cards.

Saiz stunned fans at Leeds by securing a temporary move away from the club despite being one of the top talents at Elland Road, leaving Bielsa with few attacking midfield options at his disposal.

Opinion

It should not be a case of if Leeds should sign someone to take the place of Saiz, it must be that the club definitely fill the void or risk their lack of creativity up front to create chances for those up front. Yes, Pablo Hernandez can fill the role but really the Spanish star is better suited when playing out wide and with Izzy Brown still yet to make a proper comeback from his numerous injury setbacks, there is no one who can take on the mantle naturally. It has not impacted Leeds too much this season but there will be times when the club need someone to produce a moment of magic and it is difficult to see who has the ability to make that bit of difference heading into the second half of the season. There is definitely a need for a new attacking maestro and seeing as Saiz has already headed out of Elland Road, the likes of Victor Orta best have been igniting a hunt to try and fix the problems caused by his exit.
