Leeds United midfield mainstay Mateusz Klich has revealed the team’s recent last ditch winners have had him tearing his hair out as he reveals what Marcelo Bielsa is telling the squad behind the scenes.

The Whites have left it late to snatch all three points against both Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers, Kemar Roofe netting a trio of late goals in injury time to secure victory and keep the club at the top of the Championship table.

However, while delighted with the wins, Klich admitted he was unhappy with the manner in which they were achieved, insisting they will lose other games if they continue to perform like this, while revealing Bielsa was keeping everyone grounded despite their bright run of form.

He told the Yorkshire Evening Post: ” There was unnecessary stress for everyone because we should have won (v Blackburn) earlier. We should have killed the game.

“We had the time and we did it again but it won’t happen every time for us. We’re going to lose games like that. We take a lot of risks.

“I was here last season and I saw that after Christmas it was not good, but this time we have a different manager. He keeps telling us that every game is going to be difficult, that there are no easy games. He keeps us on the ground.”

Opinion

Klich will not be the only one without fingernails/patches of baldness/other nerve related issues after the win over Blackburn, with everyone at Elland Road undergoing a roller-coaster of emotions in the 90-plus minutes. He is absolutely right though – Leeds are going to lose games if they continue to perform in the way they have recently. Yes, they have shown great determination and belief to come back not once but twice in added time but they are riding on a wave of luck which, as proven time and time again in football, will come to an abrupt end sooner or later. It is good to hear that Bielsa is making sure no one takes the Championship lightly behind the scenes and after their last two outings you would think the players had learned that first hand. The six points picked up from the last two games will no doubt be crucial in their hunt for the title – or even just promotion – but fans, and Klich, will be hoping that games are a little calmer in the near future.
