Former Nottingham Forest star Stan Collymore has said it was ‘disappointing’ not to see Joe Lolley’s effort go in during the Reds’ goalless draw with Derby County on Monday night.

The winger’s rasping curler was the closest the game came to a goal as it bounced off the crossbar, but Collymore was content with the result overall.

“Decent game and always a decent point away at the Rams,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account. “Disappointing to not see Lolley effort nick under the bar.”

OPINION

In and of itself  a draw away at Derby isn’t a bad point for Forest, especially considering how well Frank Lampard’s side have been doing. However, when you go close like Lolley did it’s frustrating to only come away with a draw. In truth, though, it wasn’t a great game and the sharing of the points was probably a fair result for both sides. Derby will feel they could have won the match, and likewise Forest, and when that happens it’s usually an indication of a stalemate being a fair result. Aitor Karanka has to still view the start his side has made to the campaign as positive, because they’ve undoubtedly made progress on the pitch. Collymore surely recognises that, and that’s likely why he doesn’t seem too aggrieved with a point. For Forest, the challenge is now for them to get back to winning ways against Queens Park Rangers next time out.
