West Brom have been alerted over the news that Chelsea are planning to send Callum Hudson-Odoi out on loan in January, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The newspaper claims that Albion are looking into possibly signing reinforcements for their attack in the winter transfer window and Hudson-Odoi’s availability could mean that he is someone on Darren Moore’s radar.

It is understood that Aston Villa and Derby could also be boosted by the news after the Sun reported that Chelsea want the 18-year-old to agree new terms before they let him go out on loan.

Good move for West Brom?

Hudson-Odoi is a great young player and one who will surely do a great job in the Championship if someone was to sign him in January, but do West Brom really need him?

The 18-year-old is naturally a left-sided winger but Moore has opted to use a wing-back system most of the season and left-winger Harvey Barnes has been used more centrally than out wide.

Hudson-Odoi would add strength in depth up front but West Brom’s priorities should really lie elsewhere.

Moore needs a right-back, centre-back, defensive midfielder, creative midfielder and perhaps a target man before a new winger.

Likely to happen?

Hudson-Odoi is bound to attract a lot of attention in the run up to January as pretty much every Championship club will think that they could sign the Chelsea attacker.

West Brom would be a more attractive place for Hudson-Odoi to go, especially in the eyes of Chelsea who know how well Albion looked after Romelu Lukaku a few years back.

It is certainly likely but it is also way too soon to make a solid prediction.
