Joe Worrall has said that he has been blown away by the Rangers supporters and said he didn’t believe former Ibrox stars Barrie McKay and Jason Cummings when they told him good they were.

The Nottingham Forest loanee was loanee was talking on the official Rangers podcast, where he said, “By far the atmosphere in the European games is the best I have played in.

“The games in the league are always good for atmosphere, but the Rapid Vienna game was unbelievable.

“You couldn’t hear someone five yards away from you or the referee’s whistle. It is something I will never forget and all that helps us as players knowing we have the fans behind us.

“I spoke to Barrie and Jason, who I knew at Forest, and they said it was incredible.

“They said you go away to away games and there is three stands filled with Rangers fans and I didn’t believe them, but I have seen it with my own two eyes.

“It is something that is iconic and Rangers are well known for. It is hard to put into words how dedicated the fans are to the cause.

“We go to big teams in Europe and we have 5,000 fans there – it gives us a big lift. We have some of the best fans in the world.”

OPINION
Worrall has come under some pretty serious criticism from Rangers fans over the past few weeks, with many of them calling for the return of Nikola Katic alongside Connor Goldson. His comments about being a Nottingham Forest player and just being at Rangers on loan didn’t help but more of this could get the supporters back on side. They are among the best fans in the world and they’ll have another chance to prove it tonight as Rangers aim to make it 12 European games unbeaten at Spartak Moscow this evening. Rangers are sitting strong in their group at the moment and even a draw would move them a huge step closer to qualification for the final 32. That would be a massive achievement for Steven Gerrard, especially as it looks like Celtic are going to crash out of their group.
