Former Rangers player Josh Windass has revealed why he keeps getting in Twitter spats with Rangers fans.

Windass was a guest on Si Ferry’s Open Goal show and the first question Windass was asked was, “Why is your twitter page like a Rangers fans’ page? I think you still want to be at Rangers?”

“No, that’s not it at all, I just like having a laugh don’t I? I don’t like people chatting s**t to me so I just give them a bit back.

“I used to tweet a lot before I went to Rangers and I wasn’t going to stop just because I went to a big club.”

OPINION
When Windass was at Rangers he used to attract a lot of criticism from Rangers fans for his frequent social media posts. And he hasn’t stopped since dropping down into the Championship with Wigan. However, when you listen to him talk on the Open Goal show, you can’t really blame him. He says he’s always done it, didn’t want to stop when he went to a big club like Rangers and hasn’t stopped since leaving. He might rub some people up the wrong way but he comes across as pretty straightforward and honest, and you can’t blame a footballer for giving something back when he gets so much stick. Some of the other things he did at Rangers showed he wasn’t always the sharpest tool in the box – such as ‘shushing’ the fans when he scored – but he gives a very good interview here. And all but the most unforgiving Rangers fans would wish him well at Wigan.
