Rangers will attempt to continue their unbeaten start to this year’s Europa League campaign on Thursday night when they face Spartak Moscow in the Russian capital.

The two teams shared the spoils in a goalless draw at Ibrox in the reverse fixture, and manager Steven Gerrard will be hoping for more from his players this time round.

To do that, the Gers boss must consider how many, if any, changes to make from the starting eleven that disposed of St Mirren 2-0 on Saturday.

The performance was an arduous one so it would be no surprise to see the Liverpool legend make a few changes to the team, with three alterations sounding about right.

Star man Allan McGregor has been largely impeccable this season and there’s no reason to think that Gerrard will change his goalkeeper at this stage. Captain James Tavernier, too, will surely get the start at right back.

Connor Goldson and Joe Worrall have been the centre back partnership of late at Ibrox and they will probably continue in their roles against Raul Riancho’s side. Andy Halliday started as an auxiliary left back against St Mirren but Jon Flanagan will likely return to the position on Thursday.

Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Jack look to be near certainties to start in central midfield these days, but 30-year-old Scott Arfield struggled on Saturday. Lassana Coulibaly, who started against Spartak at Ibrox, will likely come in for the former Burnley man.

Daniel Candeias scored off the bench against St Mirren before being sent off for a second bookable offence. Suspended in the league, he will surely start in Europe on Thursday. Ryan Kent, like Ejaria and Jack, looks to be a dead ringer for a start and will likely continue up top. Alfredo Morelos will surely continue through the middle after scoring on Saturday.
