There are very few players more important to Celtic than midfield hero Scott Brown and he has been a huge miss for the Hoops during his recent injury layoff.

The 33-year-old has missed out on nine games across all competitions due to his setback and there have been some mixed performances during his absence, including two Europa League defeats as well as games won by six and five goals in the Premiership.

With their hopes in Europe very much on the line, manager Brendan Rodgers would have been hoping to see the veteran return to action for their final two games, the first of which is on Thursday against Rosenborg.

Luckily for the Bhoys is seems as though the boss’ wishes have come true with the Daily Record reporting that the midfielder is “certain” to travel after coming through an intense training ground session unscathed.

It remains to be seen whether Brown does get given an immediate start after his time on the sidelines but with their hopes of qualifying very much on the line Rodgers needs to take the big gamble of throwing him straight back into the starting XI.

There is no arguing that the Hoops are a better side with him in the team and with such a crucial clash for the club they cannot afford to have him missing for another game.

By playing it safe Rodgers knows he is gambling on their future and so it would be better to risk Brown rather than roll the dice over potential failure.
