Sir Kenny Dalglish is the latest figure to heap praise on Celtic’s Ryan Christie, after his brilliant form over the past few weeks.

Dalglish was talking about the Scottish team and said that manager Alex McLeish must be tempted to play “Kieran Tierney, James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie from the start.”

He singled out Christie for specific praise in his column in the Sunday Post.

“Christie has been a revelation in recent weeks,” Dalglish said.

“He scored a fabulous goal against Hearts in the Betfred Cup semi-final and his fine form has continued.

“He absolutely looked the part in last Thursday’s Europa League game, and it’s clear his confidence is sky-high.

“When you are feeling so good about yourself – mentally and physically – then I’m all for allowing a player to kick on and keep the momentum going.”

OPINION
Dalglish is right – Christie has been a revelation for Celtic in the past few weeks and his form has coincided with a huge upturn in Celtic’s form. Christie was struggling for game-time in the early part of the season, but two goals in recent Premiership starts and a brilliant performance in the Europa League game against Leipzig has thrust him into the limelight. Celtic are now back on top of the league, despite only managing a 0-0 with Livingston in their latest league game, and the ominous thing for rivals Rangers is that they still seem to have an upper gear to move into. Scotland have two winnable games coming up against Albania and Israel and Dalglish obviously thinks that Christie can take his domestic form into the Scotland set-up. Christie has only started once for his country in three caps, and hasn’t featured for the team in the last four games. He must be in line for a start against Albania on Saturday, though.
