COMMENTARY
When a midfielder scores just three times in 132 appearances for a club, you do not expect to pull out a world class shot on their return to the city they used to occupy – which is exactly why Celtic fans were left stunned on social media on Tuesday night.
The reason behind the Hoops’ fans shock was one Beram Kayal, a midfielder who, despite his numerous appearances for the club, never really made the impact he should have and those watching Scotland’s clash with Israel in Glasgow would not have believed their eyes with what went down in the Nations League clash.
The 30-year-old showed a side rarely seen by fans with a sumptuous 25-yard effort which rocketed past Allan McGregor in the Scotland goal to give his side the lead at Hampden Park – although James Forrest turned the game on its head with two first half goals.
There could be an argument that the likes of Callum McGregor were too slow in closing him down but quite frankly – as proven by the surprise shown on Twitter by Celtic fans – there is no way he nor his teammates could have expected what happened next.
He might have left Parkhead back in 2015 but it was their former man who caught the attention of the Hoops faithful, with some not knowing how to react to such a surprise sight from the Israeli.
This is Futbol has gathered a selection of the supporters’ tweets:

Probably not expecting Kayal to be able to hit one like that
I don’t remember him ever doing it for Celtic
