Wolves could be key to Rangers sealing the January loan signing of Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke.

It was a deal the Light Blues reportedly wanted to do in the summer, with the Scottish Sun claiming the £25,000-a-week (Spotrac) player was the number one priority for Steven Gerrard.

Solanke has subsequently been stuck on the sidelines at Anfield amid reports he could go out on loan in the forthcoming winter window.

Is there some hope for Gerrard he can resurrect a deal and bring a third loanee to Ibrox following the season-long loans for Ryan Kent and Ovie Ejaria?

There is. According to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp is likely to offload one of Solanke and Divock Origi in January. The club are willing to listen to offers for the Belgian, who has made just one appearance all season, and are interesting in loaning out Solanke, who has not featured at all.

Liverpool have slapped a £20million valuation on Origi, who came close to joining Wolves in the summer.

This comes after the Mirror reported at the weekend that the Midlands big hitters are lining up a January offer for the Belgium international after boss Nuno Espirito Santo made a new forward his top priority.

Naturally, much will depend upon the numbers adding up and Wolves convincing Origi to make a move to the Midlands.

If a deal cannot be done, Rangers’ hopes of landing Solanke will be massively bolstered.

The 21-year-old would be a mighty fine loan signing. Bursting with potential, he is mobile, powerful and technically adept. Having spent 18 months at Liverpool after quitting Chelsea, he is able to operate anywhere across the forward line, even though his preference is as the attack spearhead.

Solanke could be a brilliant foil for main man Alfredo Morelos and provide fresh spark for an already lively front line.
