Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has revealed what Celtic’s in-form  James Forrest shouted when he scored his first goal for Scotland.

It was Forrest’s 25th cap for his country and he broke his duck in style, scoring two goals in Scotland’s 4-0 win over Albania.

Robertson said that Forrest’s performance was “fantastic” in the Scottish Sun and couldn’t believe it was his first goal for his country.

“He was running away shouting, ‘It’s my first Scotland goal!’”, Robertson said.

“I couldn’t really believe that. And it was extra special for it to happen for him on his 25th cap.

“Then he followed that up with another goal. He wanted his hat-trick but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

“But it was a fantastic performance from James.”

OPINION
This is a brilliant little story from Andy Robertson and shows how much it means to Forrest to finally break his duck for his country. The player who almost left Celtic before Brendan Rodgers turned up has completely turned his career on its head but it’s fantastic to see that he’s still hugely excited at what’s happening. It is pretty tough to believe that this was Forrest’s first goal for his country but we imagine that he’ll be bagging many more in the future. He’s got his shooting boots on for Celtic too, with nine goals in 24 games across all competitions. He’s got six and five assists in the Premiership and that’s closing in on his total for last season already. On his current form he’d have to be considered Celtic’s player of the season so far and he could be on track for the Player of the Year award. That’s a fantastic achievement for a player who’s now 27 and has never played for another club.
