A section of Rangers fans have been reacting on Twitter after it was reported that Carlos Pena is set to have his loan deal at Necaxa terminated, meaning that he will return to Ibrox two months earlier than scheduled.

La Opinion has reported that Necaxa had given the 28-year-old midfielder a second chance after his loan stint at Cruz Azul earlier this year saw his alcoholism come to light before he eventually checked into rehab, however he blew his opportunity with them after missing training on Wednesday.

Some Rangers fans would welcome Pena back to Ibrox as long as he works on his fitness, however one does not reckon he will see the Mexican play for the Light Blues again.

COMMENTARY:

It is a bit of a surprise to see most of these Rangers fans give their backing to Pena, especially after he wiped his nose on a pair of the club’s shorts and was also completely useless during his half-season in the Scottish Premiership. Pedro Caixinha signed a lot of dross and Pena, at £2.2millon, was probably the worst of the bunch. He managed the odd goal here and there but he looked completely unfit and disinterested in playing for the Gers. Rangers fans are probably more sympathetic about his situation more than anything. It could do him a lot of good if he is able to play for the Glasgow giants again. If he did not have his personal issues then it’s unlikely that there would be this kind of reaction. Steven Gerrard now has a big decision to make on Pena, but judging by the reaction of some supporters, he may choose to keep hold of the Mexican for a short-while before anything drastic.
