If there is one thing that Wolverhampton Wanderers have lacked in their impressive return to the Premier League it has been goals.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have had no problem creating opportunities, it’s the taking of them which has proved rather tricky for the men in gold.

Perhaps, then, the club should consider taking a punt on a former transfer target of theirs, Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Jurgen Locadia.

Sky Sports reported that the 25-year-old was on the verge of moving to Molineux in the summer of 2017, before his former team PSV Eindhoven dramatically decided against the deal at the last minute.

The Dutchman would eventually move to England, of course, joining the Seagulls in January. However, his time with Chris Hughton’s team has been a rather unhappy one.

“I have to play weekly but I’ve never had the chance to show what I am worth,” he told the Sun on Thursday. “I haven’t had a clear explanation why I don’t play and I don’t feel that my situation will change quickly.

“Soon there will be a conversation and I hope Brighton respect me in this situation. I want to play at the highest and not be loaned to a club in the Championship or something like that.”

Clearly Locadia wants out of the AMEX Stadium. Like he says, he is too good for the Championship, but why would he not consider a move to Wolves?

Nuno’s team had an interest in the player in the past so why wouldn’t they go back in for him? Yes, he hasn’t pulled up any trees with Brighton, but he’s not really been given the opportunity to.

Locadia showed with PSV that he’s capable of scoring goals, while at 25 he’s still got plenty of time to improve. Wolves need goals so surely it’s worth taking a chance on the player, particularly when you consider that his price tag will have surely taken a hit due to his Seagulls disappointment.

It’s not rocket science. Wolves need a goalscoring spark up front and Locadia could potentially supply it. The two parties have mutual interest in one another so why not get the band back together? This could be a genius move on Nuno’s part.
