Tottenham endured a nervy end to their win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday night, with a comfortable 3-0 lead ending up ending in a 3-2 victory – which could have ended very differently had it not been for the officials.

One controversial offside call in the first half could have changed the course of the clash – but in the second half it was a player, rather than a match official, who stole the limelight.

Everyone in Molineux – including the travelling support – would have been left raving over the performance of 18-year-old Morgan Gibbs-White, who managed to turn the game on his head with a dazzling 28 minute cameo from the bench.

The teenager was a sensation in the middle of the park, demonstrating brilliant composure and attacking vision to take the game to the Lilywhites as well as offering energy to help defend his side’s own goal as they searched for an unlikely comeback.

Mauricio Pochettino would have no doubt been hugely impressed with the youngster as he watched on in person – and a January raid would get the New White Hart Lane erupting if he could replicate the sort of displays in the white of Tottenham rather than the old gold of Wolves.

A young England talent will find nowhere better than north London to prove himself – as demonstrated by how many Tottenham talents have progressed into the Three Lions’ squad – and at 18, Gibbs-White is looking like one of the next breakthrough stars.

Spurs know they could do with midfield talents with the likes of Mousa Dembele heading out the door in the near-future, and the future would be extremely bright with the likes of Gibbs-White and Harry Winks starring.
