Wolves are involved in negotiations over a move for Kisampasa’s goal-a-game hitman Mbaye Diagne with more discussions scheduled between the player and his club for next week, according to ESPN.

The sports broadcaster claim on their website that the Premier League outfit are keen on recruiting the 27-year-old after scoring 12 goals in as many games for the Turkish side, and that they have already held initial talks with his people over a potential move to Molineux.

The 6’4″ colossus (Source: Transfermarkt) is a three cap Senegal international and is said to have been of interest to English clubs over the summer but work permit issues – which he hopes to have solved by applying for an EU passport – brought a close to enquiries.

Good move for Wolves?

Absolutely. The only thing Wolves desperately need heading into January is a proven goalscorer and while it might be the Turkish league, Diagne has the form to suggest he could be a success.

Raul Jiminez and Leo Bonatini are exceptionally hard workers but they struggle to put chances away on a regular basis, and if Diagne can translate his form from his current side on a move to England, then Nuno Espirito Santo can be targeting greater things.

No move is risk free but form and confidence can play a huge role in a striker’s success and there are going to be few others out there with the same impressive record.

Likely to happen?

There are still a couple of hurdles for Wolves to clear but the initial signs look good.

The fact clubs were interested in the summer means that with his form there is likely to be plenty of competition, but Wolves, with their ambitious owners and big spending, should be able to hold off any rivals for his signing.

Perhaps the biggest issue will be that passport application, for failure to seal the ability to work freely in the EU could impact his chances of an English move massively.
