BeIN SPORTS pundit Andy Gray has torn into Wolverhampton Wanderers for their performance against Huddersfield Town on Sunday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side put in a dismal showing as they fell to a 2-0 defeat at Molineux, with Terriers midfielder Aaron Mooy scoring both goals.

Gray was not impressed with the home side, insisting that manager Nuno Espirito Santo had to start changing things up with his team selection after sticking with a familiar line up in the opening fixtures of the season.

“This is the worst I’ve seen Wolves,” he said on beIN SPORTS.

“Their retention of the football’s been poor – I mean poor. The decision making Wolves have made has been awful.

“There are misplaced passes, decisions about when to release it, getting caught in possession, not tracking players. Everything about the way they’ve played has been really, really poor. I think because so many of these players have played every game, sometimes you need to shake it up. Twelve games in, they just might be beginning to feel it some of them,” he finished.

OPINION

Gray is bang on the money, here. Wolves weren’t good enough from start to finish on Sunday and they got punished by a well-organised Huddersfield side as a result. They were sloppy in possession and too many of them looked well below their best. There does seem to be some fitness issues in this Wolves team and that told at Molineux. There was a real lack of urgency from Nuno’s side and it was very disappointing to see from a Wolves fans’ perspective. Gray is right about Nuno needing to shake things up. The manager has been very loyal to a core group of players this campaign but it’s clear that some of them are suffering from playing every single game for the club week in week out. There needs to be a bit more rotation from the Portuguese because otherwise sub par performances like these will become the norm for Wolves.
