Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that both Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll are fit again and in the squad for the Premier League game against Man City on Saturday.

The West Ham manager was talking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the game at the London Stadium.

It will be a huge test for West Ham, with Man City top of the league and still unbeaten. They have also scored by far the most goals in the league this season and only conceded five.

OPINION

This is good news for West Ham but although both the players are big names, neither has been performing that well. Carroll is in the last chance saloon after suffering from so many injuries it’s easier to count the games he’s played. He’s out of contract in the summer and will need to score a lot of goals between now and the summer, and stay fit, if he wants his club to trigger the two-year option they have on him. West Ham are also playing better without Wilshere but he’s a player who can definitely do a job for them if he can stay fit and recapture his form. We expect both to be on the bench and we expect Carroll to be put on late on to try and salvage something from the game. It’s going to be a tough afternoon for the Hammers A draw would be a brilliant result but to do that the defence is going to have to play out of its collective skin.
