West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere has delivered a glowing review of summer signing Felipe Anderson.

After a slightly slow start to life in England the Brazilian has exploded into phenomenal form of late, and Wilshere has been left seriously impressed by the former Lazio man.

“You can see he’s starting to come good now, he’s getting comfortable in the league and starting to show the skills and talent he has got, and he’s adding a few goals as well,” he told the club’s official website. “I think there’s a lot more to come from him and I can’t wait to see it.

“Technically, he is up there with the top players. He’s a player who can do pretty much everything, he can beat his man and has that Brazilian flair, if you like, and he’s also got the vision to get his head up and make a pass and he’s starting to show that now,” he finished.

OPINION

Wilshere is pretty spot on, here. We are starting to see what made Anderson such a desirable commodity for so many of Europe’s top clubs a few years ago. He started brightly at West Ham but then faded for a while, but he is bang in form at the moment and looks like a vital piece of Manuel Pellegrini’s side. He is part of West Ham’s attempts to return to their old, swaggering style of football. Alongside the likes of Marko Arnautovic, Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko, he is a provider of flair and creativity in an otherwise functional Hammers team. He showed against Burnley, in particular, that he can take over a game if given the opportunity, and the challenge for him now is to do that on a more regular basis. If he can then he could well become a West Ham legend, and then the problem becomes keeping hold of him for the club.
