Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler has insisted Harry Kane is the hardest working player around.

The veteran commentator made the claim in a Q&A on the Sky Sports Premier League Twitter account that the Tottenham and England talisman has a work ethic that is bettered by no one.

Asked if Kane is the best striker in the world, Tyler hailed Kane’s “wonderful” goalscoring knack and his “diligence” in ensuring he is able to operate at maximum capacity for club and country.

OPINION

As someone who has been covering the Premier League for Sky Sports since its 1992 inception, Tyler is a highly respected figure in English football, so much so that he was invited to Richard Scudamore’s farewell party last week. Not only does he call matches for the broadcaster, Tyler is also an assistant coach at non-league level. He hears and sees plenty of things behind the scenes, which has enabled him to provide the Kane revelation. Not that it is an enormous surprise to learn of the 24-year-old’s perfect professionalism and immense appetite for hard work. Kane is a goal machine, but did not get to where he is today without plenty of bumps and scrapes along the way, including during a handful of loan spells in which he failed to dazzle. He is not a natural talent in the way that, say, Eden Hazard or Lionel Messi is, but he has made the most of everything he has got, and has worked fearsomely hard to develop his game to the level where he is a world beater.
