Many Tottenham fans have been left slaughtering the performance of left back Ben Davies on social media in the club’s Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday night.

The Lilywhites came into the clash without a win in Europe this season and found themselves immediately pegged back by the Dutch visitors, Luuk de Jong, who scored a late equaliser in the reverse fixture, heading home just after a minute of play at Wembley.

However two second half goals from Harry Kane turned the tie on its head and kept Spurs within touching distance of the leaders in their group.

A lot of fans turned to Twitter to hammer the performance from 25-year-old Welsh full back Davies for his display, with many insisting that he deserved to be replaced in the team after a poor season as a whole.

COMMENTARY

Some who failed to catch the game might say that Tottenham fans were just frustrated with their side as a whole rather than just Davies but those who did watch on would have been wondering where the Welsh wizard of recent seasons had gone. Not only was he struggling to keep on top of the PSV attack at the back but he had little impact at the other end of the pitch, having shown in the past just how dangerous he can be from a forward position out on the flank. The Tottenham faithful were right to slam his performance but with Danny Rose out of action it gives Mauricio Pochettino little option but to play the Wales international. He is not expected to be a game changer but at the same time Spurs cannot afford to carry too many passengers in their side and that was exactly what he was at times on Tuesday.
