Tottenham are set to continue struggling to battle on a financial basis due to the cost of their new stadium which will leave club chief Daniel Levy sweating over the club’s future, according to journalist James Olley.

The London Evening Standard‘s chief football correspondent claims in his column for the newspaper that the lack of finances available to Mauricio Pochettino in the summer transfer window are only set to continue in a worrying update for the club, with the manager said to be eyed up by a number of sides.

Managing director Levy, who is known to be in charge of the club’s stadium development as well as the finances, will likely be worried about how the situation will affect in the Argentine manager, who voiced his frustrations about the lack of spending over the summer.

Fans would have been hoping that the summer, which saw them fail to bring in a single player during the transfer window, was a one off and that they would be back to signing fresh talent for their side in future markets. However, while that might still be the case, it sounds as though the stadium’s costs are still going to limit the amount of spending that goes on in north London, which will be a real worry moving forward. How is Pochettino to remain happy when he knows there is a significant cap on the amount of cash made available to him? He has got a great group at his disposal right now but with contracts coming to an end and senior players heading into the twilight of their careers he needs to bring in new faces to strengthen his side. Is he going to be able to bring in who he wants? With prices skyrocketing in the Premier League nowadays, he might find things difficult, and that could play a big part in whether he stays or leaves Spurs in the future.
