Former Chelsea striker and Sky Sports pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was left drooling over Tottenham duo Dele Alli and Heung-min Son after their performances helped sink his old side on Saturday.

The Lilywhites snatched not only the three points but bragging rights as well in the London clash, Mauricio Pochettino’s men running out comfortable winners with a 3-1 scoreline at Wembley.

Delivering his team of the week, Hasselbaink chose Alli and Son as the standout performers for Spurs, heralding the quality that Alli brought to the side after his layoff through injury.

Speaking to Sky Sports’ Football Centre (26/11, 12:51), he said: “Son had to be in the best XI, Alli as well. It was his first game back and you could see the quality he was bringing.

“He set up the goal for Son and Son did the rest but they were both immense.”

Opinion

No arguing with Hasselbaink here – the only disagreement some fans might have is why there are not more Spurs players lining up in his XI. The Lilywhites were magnificent and put Chelsea – who were unbeaten in the Premier League prior to visiting Wembley – to the sword with a performance full of energy and drive. This might not only be Spurs’ best performance this season but their best performance for quite some time, and they are deserving of all the plaudits that come their way. The one man who will be delighted with the display and result will be Alli, who has not had things go his own way this season. He has not been on top of his game at all but this was a showing which demonstrated just what he has to offer Tottenham. If he can produce this sort of form every week, their rivals should be seriously worried.
