A section of Everton fans have waxed lyrical over the display of centre-back Yerry Mina in the 0-0 stalemate with Chelsea on Sunday.
The 24-year-old was picked to make his debut in the first XI by boss Marco Silva, who dropped Kurt Zouma in favour of the Colombian international.
Alvaro Morata netted for the Blues only for the goal to be ruled out for offside, while Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford all but salvaged a point for his team by denying the hosts a number of times.
Many supporters were delighted with the performance of Mina, with some comments including “can’t be dropped” and “we are never conceding a goal again”.
COMMENTARY
Everton fans had been waiting patiently for the debut of summer signing Yerry Mina, and his performance certainly made it worth the wait based on these tweets. It may have taken Silva a few months to start him, but Mina definitely delivered the supporters a treat. He looked solid in the defence, and he looked like he had been playing in the Everton defence for years with the way he just slotted in next to Michael Keane with ease. One fan said that he should not be dropped after his game, and it is hard not to echo that sentiment, as it would be a shame to suddenly see him dropped to the bench after such an assured debut. Silva now has a selection headache now that Mina has impressed, so it will be interesting to see what he decides to do with the team after the international break.
This is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets:
Improving defensively all the time. Coleman looks more himself last couple of weeks while Digne, Mina and Keane were excellent today as Zouma has been. Just got to add a little more composure to our play but I’m more than happy with silva, brands and the progress. #efc ????

Everyone of our new signings are good players. Mina was the last to have a look at and today I thought he was brilliant. We have to trust and support Silva and Brands 100% ????

5 Good Chelsea Things:
1. Richarlison.
2. Yerry Mina being absolutely mental.
3. Making the last ten minutes look easy.
4. Big Mick Keane

Cracking point that. Refreshing seeing us have a plan and still look threatening on the break. Yerry Mina hello mate we are going to get along just fine. #EFC
