The future of Aaron Ramsey is clear: the Wales international is set to leave Arsenal after ten years when his contract ends in the summer.
For one reason or another the Gunners have taken the decision to not renew Ramsey’s contract, and will now watch one of their best players over the past few years walk away for free.
When Ramsey does leave, the 27-year-old will have a long line of clubs wanting to sign him, and among those will be some of the biggest sides in Europe.
However, according to one Arsenal legend, Ramsey should stay in London and sign for a club no one would be expecting him to.
Speaking to Sportingbet, former Gunners right-back Lauren said: “West Ham could be a great fit for Ramsey should he leave the Gunners. He’s settled in London so he won’t want to move, but West Ham gives him the chance to get first team football whilst becoming a leader in the dressing room.”
While the press have been putting the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus and Barcelona forward as possible destinations, Lauren seems to believe Ramsey should make a surprise move to east London with West Ham.
This would be a huge move which would stun almost everyone in the English game, with Ramsey expected to join one of the biggest teams in Europe.
Thinking about it though, you can see where Lauren is coming from, with the London Stadium being a place where Ramsey is guaranteed to start and where he would instantly become a senior star in the dressing room.
While such a move is obviously unlikely, West Ham have nothing to lose in making enquiries to Ramsey and his representatives about such a move taking place.
You never know what a player sees as his best move, and while Ramsey is still likely to end up at one of the big boys, West Ham would pull off the most stunning coup if this cheeky move worked out.
