Newcastle United are considering sending youth team star Elias Sorensen out on loan in January, according to the Chronicle.

The 19-year-old has thrilled Premier League 2 spectators this season with a series of excellent performances, scoring 13 goals already this campaign.

Now the Magpies are looking for the striker to take the next step by enjoying a spell away from the club. The Chroncile’s report claims that there were scouts in attendance for the U-23’s 4-1 win over Manchester United on Friday, where Sorensen grabbed a brace.

The Magpies are said to want assurances that the teenager will get regular game time away from the club, with League One and Two teams said to be monitoring the frontman.

Good move for Newcastle?

This is the ideal next step for Sorensen, who is said to have delighted Newcastle coaches with his performances this season. There have been many calls from the Magpies supporters for Rafael Benitez to call the striker up to the first team, but it’s best that the Spaniard doesn’t rush the youngster’s development. The Dane has been electric for the U-23’s so far this season and it’s important that his progress isn’t hampered by moving him too fast. A spell on loan with a third or fourth tier team would be ideal as the club waits for him to take the next step in his development. He is a prized asset for the club at the moment, which is why Newcastle are looking to get assurances over his game time. This is the right move for Sorensen at the right time, let’s see if he can make the most of it.

Likely to happen?

The Chronicle’s report does only say that Newcastle are considering sending Sorensen out on loan so it’s not as if this is a done deal yet. Obviously it seems like the perfect next step for the youngster but these things don’t always go to plan. You’d think, though, that an agreement will be agreed for him to move on temporarily in January.
